Has anyone tried it and it is Is it better compared to the patcher?

It cannot change the solution explorer items as this vsip can :)

I tried it on one of my Win7 machines and it only changed my min, max & close buttons in the top right. No icons changed.

Beta 0.8.1.1 seams to work for me:

only the solution explorer icons are the old ones.

Using your patcher, NiceVS + Visual Studio 2012 Color Theme Editor mostly fixes the terrible VS2012 UI :)

Still shocked at how bad VS2012 was, I can confirm VSIP +Registry hack for cased Menu + NiceVS works. Don't know if NiceVS would have done it all as I came to that option last. I now have a VS2012 IDE I'm prepared to work with all day every day. If this is a taste of Windows 8 then I'm getting a monochrome monitor or waiting for Windows 9. Windows 7 is fine for me until then.

I'm not going into an anti microsoft rant but they should be doing a lot of soul searching right now. The problem is, folks with an evangelical zeal to change everyting will allways 'make the decision right' rather than 'make the right decision'. I've seen that hundreds of times over the years.

I'm just thankful that they left enough wriggle room for some smart guys to step  in.
